We are committed to working closely with our clients to understand their objectives and to help resolve disputes in a commercial and cost effective way. Our approach involves identifying the important issues early, advising on the strengths and weaknesses of the legal position, exploring the available options and then deciding upon the best strategy to resolve the dispute. We make it a priority to get to know our clients and their businesses, in order to ensure the dispute resolution strategy meets the unique needs of the client.
Our team members appear in Courts at all levels as well as specialist tribunals. We also regularly act in mediations and arbitrations when the dynamics of the dispute require an approach that does not involve issuing public Court proceedings.
We are used to acting on complex commercial litigation across a variety of industry sectors including commercial property, agribusiness, banking and finance, insolvency, insurance, and primary resources. Our team members have also acted on a number of highly contentious and novel legal disputes arising out of the Canterbury Earthquakes.
We have breadth and depth of experience in assisting clients in a range of areas. These include contractual, shareholder and insurance disputes, company receiverships and liquidations, real property disputes including caveats, lease and rent review matters, product liability, professional liability and discipline, banking and finance litigation and security enforcement, debt recovery and family trust, relationship property and family protection disputes.
The team regularly works with Mandarin and Cantonese fluent colleagues to represent Chinese clients in New Zealand corporate and property disputes.
