Lane Neave is pleased to announce that Corporate Partner, Anna Ryan, has been shortlisted for Antitrust/Competition Lawyer of the Year at the 2023 APAC Women in Business Law Awards.
The awards recognise leading female lawyers throughout the Asia-Pacific region and celebrate law firms that have impressive initiatives to promote diversity and women in the legal industry. The winner to be announced on 7 September.
Anna is a specialist in New Zealand cartel law and heads the firm’s national Competition and Consumer Protection Law team. For the past four years, she has also Chaired the Competition Law and Policy Institute of New Zealand, the national membership organisation for competition lawyers, academics and economists.
Anna is the only New Zealander shortlisted for the Antitrust/Competition Lawyer of the Year award, alongside nine other finalists in her category from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea and Singapore. Each finalist is chosen based on exhaustive analysis of legal work presented in submissions and from direct client feedback.
“I am delighted to be nominated for this prestigious award, following what has been a busy year working on a highly engaging array of local and international competition law matters. I have always been a champion for female lawyers working in this field and it’s an honour to be shortlisted among what is an incredibly talented pool of fellow nominees,” Anna says.
Managing Partner, Andrew Shaw, commended Anna on her work in building Lane Neave’s reputation in this niche practice area. In recent years, the firm’s Competition and Consumer Protection Law team has developed a particular specialty in cartel law—with the team being ranked Band 3 in the Chambers and Partners directory. Anna is also individually ranked in Band 3.
“Our Competition and Consumer Protection Law team’s ethos is to support clients to be sustainable and successful in their competitive endeavours. Under Anna’s leadership, the team has achieved outstanding results. A key contributor to this success is Anna’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions for clients, which regularly sees the team operating at the cutting edge of competition law.”
“I would like to thank the members of the Competition and Consumer Protection Law team, whose contributions are pivotal in delivering high quality service to our clients,” says Anna.
“I would also like to acknowledge my Lane Neave colleagues, who share my passion for fostering talent across the firm, and championing their clients’ interests within their specialist practice areas.”
