Lane Neave celebrated 150 years in 2018 and the book “One man’s story of a legal firm” was written by retired Partner, John England, in commemoration of that milestone.
The book is written more in anecdotal form than as a serious history, although it does chronicle Lane Neave’s early years, several mergers and the impact of various historic events. It also highlights the firm’s growth from the sole practice established by John Holmes in Christchurch in 1868 to the current leading national firm serving clients and communities from offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.
Speaking about the book, Managing Partner, Andrew Shaw said, “It is interesting to read the story of Lane Neave through the perspective of a former partner who has a lifelong connection with the firm.”
“From very humble beginnings in 1868, we are proud of the extraordinary journey we have taken to be a top national law firm in New Zealand.”
“It is great to be able to reflect back on our past as it is this history that has helped create the firm we are today and will shape the firm we will be in the future.”
A limited number of hard-copies were produced for the firm and the book is available as an eBook online.
