Wellington session on Tuesday 25 July – register here
The Commerce Act seeks to ensure that businesses in New Zealand compete on their merits, and do not engage in illegal (and in some cases, criminal) anticompetitive conduct.
This free 2-hour presentation is aimed at helping attendees to:
- understand their basic obligations under the Commerce Act;
- differentiate between anticompetitive collusion and procompetitive collaboration;
- distinguish rigorous competitive conduct from misuse of market power;
- identify specific Commerce Act risks within their organisations; and
- implement basic measures to promote compliance with the Commerce Act.
Join Lane Neave Partner Anna Ryan, who will look at some recent trends / current areas of focus for the Commerce Commission, including:
- New Zealand’s new “misuse of market power” regime, which came into force on 5 April 2023;
- anticompetitive conduct in labour markets;
- the application of New Zealand’s cartel laws to franchise networks; and
- the difference between cooperation and collusion on sustainability initiatives.
